Tribute to Clyde East by Ivan Berryman.

Clyde East joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and by 1942 was flying P-51 Mustangs with No.414 Sqn RCAF in England. He then transferred to the US Air Force, joining the 15th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. He is shown here in P.51D Mustang 44-14306 5M-K, 'Lil Margaret', April 1945. In more than 200 missions he scored 13 victories, later serving in Korea flying RF-80 Shooting Stars and retiring in 1965. He died in 2014.

HMS Orion by Ivan Berryman.

The Leander class cruiser HMS Orion is shown departing Grand Harbour Malta late in 1945.

Collision Course by Ivan Berryman.

On 17th April 1943, Hans-Ekkehard Bob claimed a victory over a B-17 Flying Fortress, by ramming his opponent. He was forced to bale out of his damaged Bf109G and also sustained injuries during the incident.

Ready for the Off - Blenheim of No.25 Sqn by Ivan Berryman.

A Royal Air Force Blenheim of No.25 Sqn is prepared for take-off as the crew get ready to board their aircraft.

Supermarine S6.B Engine Change by Ivan Berryman.

The Supermarine S6.B was the aircraft famed for winning the Schneider Trophy outright in 1931. Here, the Rolls Royce R engine is being lowered into the body of the aircraft. The engine cover on the aircraft was so large that when it was removed, there was very little left except a void where the engine would be.

Sabre's Edge - Tribute to Edwin L 'Ed' Heller by Ivan Berryman.

Already an ace in WWII, Ed Heller was again to find himself involved in aerial combat during the conflict in Korea, now flying the mighty F-86 Sabre with the 25th FIS, 51st FIW against the potent MiG15. Moving to 16th FIS as Squadron Commander, he was to claim 3.5 victories over MiGs before being shot down himself in January 1953. His release from captivity by the Chinese did not occur until two years after the war ended but, upon repatriation, he returned to the air flying F-100s during the Cuban Missile Crisis, finally retiring in 1967. He is depicted here in Hell-er Bust X, claiming a MiG 15.

Tribute to Howard Saint by Ivan Berryman.

Captain Howard J T Saint was a Welsh flying Ace who claimed 7 victories between August and October 1917 and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. He is shown here in his personal aircraft, Sopwith Triplane N6295 'B' in August 1917 - the aircraft in which he claimed a reconnaissance aircraft on the 21st and an Albatros D.V on the 25th, his 3rd and 4th victories. He claimed a further 3 victories while flying Sopwith Camels before becoming a test pilot, continuing a career in aviation until his retirement. He died in 1976 at the age of 83.

HMS Triumph by Ivan Berryman.

Built in Barrow-in-Furness and the 7th and last of the Trafalgar class of British submarines, HMS Triumph is one of the most modern and potent vessels of her kind. Selected in March 2011 to take part in the coalition suppression of Colonel Gadaffi's attacks against his own people, HMS Triumph fired a number of TLAMs (Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles) aimed at air defence targets on the Libyan mainland at the outset of coalition operations, helping to reduce the threat of air attacks by the Libyan Air Force.

Tribute to Giovanni Ancillotto by Ivan Berryman.

Italian Ace Giovanni Ancillotto scored a total of eleven victories during the Great War. This total includes two pioneering night-fighter victories in the summer of 1918. He is best known for his third balloon-busting victory in late 1917, however, during which his Nieuport 11 was severely damaged as he pressed home his attack with rockets, collecting much of the burning balloon with his aircraft. He is shown here during a previous balloon-busting victory with the empty launch tubes of 8 Le Prieur rockets testament to the fate of the enemy balloon. Giovanni Ancillotto was highly decorated and survived the war, but was killed in a car accident in 1924.

HMS Thrasher by Ivan Berryman.

A T-Class submarine of the Royal Navy launched in 1940 and commissioned in May 1941, HMS Thrasher famously survived an attack by aircraft in 1942, her crew gaining two Victoria Crosses in the process. Immediately after attacking a supply vessel on 16th February, HMS Thrasher was bombed from the air but escaped unscathed. After resurfacing, two unexploded bombs were discovered within the casing of the submarine. The first was easily removed but the second took a contorted effort in confined spaces - an hour-long combined effort by Lt Roberts and PO Gould literally manhandled the lethal ordnance safely over the side. For actions that likely save the submarine, they were both awarded the Victoria Cross.

HMS Fearless by Ivan Berryman

Ships of the South Atlantic Task Force gather in San Carlos water during the Falklands Campaign of 1982. LCMs from HMS Fearless (L10) manoeuvre around their mother ship, with the logistic Ship RFA Sir Galahad (L3005) and the frigate HMS Argonaut (F56) in close attendance.

Top Dressing in New Zealand (2) by Ivan Berryman.

Landing and taking off from the hillsides, rather than established airfields, this was extremely dangerous work which involved the pilot following the terrain and contours of the land that was being dressed in order to ensure an even distribution of the chemical. Australian-born Jim McMahon, served during World War II on B.25 Mitchell bombers before pioneering crop dusting and topdressing in New Zealand with ex-military De Havilland Tiger Moths which he converted himself for the purpose. He went on to form a company called Crop Culture, which specialised in aerial spraying equipment, both in New Zealand and in the UK, before becoming a partner in the newly-formed Britten-Norman aircraft company which produced the Islander and Trislander utility transport aircraft in England.

HMS Maidstone by Ivan Berryman

The submarine depot ship HMS Maidstone is pictured off Hong Kong with a quintet of British submarines alongside for replenishment, namely (left to right) an S-class, a U-class, a T-class and two more U-class.

HMS Colossus by Ivan Berryman

Together with her sister ship, Hercules, HMS Colossus acquitted herself well at the Battle of Jutland where she fired 93 12in rounds, but received only two hits from enemy fire which caused minor damage and left nine crew injured. She was sold for scrap in 1928.

USS Dwight Eisenhower by Ivan Berryman.

A pair of F18 Hornets overfly the Nimitz-class carrier USS Dwight Eisenhower (CV-69) with the surface combatant USS Arleigh Burke (DDF-51) off her port bow.

Crop Culture - Tiger Moth by Ivan Berryman.

Tiger Moth sprays a potato field in southern England, early 1960s. Australian-born Jim, served during World War II on B.25 Mitchell bombers before pioneering crop dusting and topdressing in New Zealand with ex-military De Havilland Tiger Moths which he converted himself for the purpose. He went on to form a company called Crop Culture, which specialised in aerial spraying equipment, both in New Zealand and in the UK, before becoming a partner in the newly-formed Britten-Norman aircraft company which produced the Islander and Trislander utility transport aircraft in England.

Tribute to Peter Wykeham-Barnes by Ivan Berryman.

Lattely known as Air Marshal Sir Peter Guy Wykeham, KCB, DSO and Bar, OBE, DFC and Bar, AFC - he is shown here baling out of his stricken Gloster Gladiator of No.80 Sqn over North Africa on 4th August 1940. At the time he would have been known as Peter Wykeham-Barnes - a flying Ace who would go on to score 14 victories plus 3 shared in a wartime career which also saw him fly with No.274 Sqn and command No.73 Sqn, No.257 Sqn and No.23 Sqn. Remaining with the Royal Air Force after the war, he became a test pilot and served with the US Air Force in the Korean War before taking serveral roles in the RAF, culminating in Deputy Chief of Air Staff from 1967 until retirement in 1969. He died in 1995.

Tribute to Major Erich Rudorffer by Ivan Berryman.

The Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 54 Erich Rudorffer is depicted in Fw190A-6 'Black Double Chevron' over the misty forests of Finland in June 1944. Credited with 222 aerial victories, he survived being shot down no less than sixteen times and survived the war until eventually passing away in 2016 aged 98.

Bristol Beaufort by Ivan Berryman.
