Modern Day Photos of HMS Victory

Ivan Berryman Art Nelson's Battles HMS Victory Photos

[UP] - Trafalgar - The Nile - Copenhagen - HMS Victory Photos

HMS Victory Photo File.  We thought we would share with our visitors some of the terrific photos of the classic warship HMS Victory we have in our possession.  Over 150 hi-res photos were taken by Ivan during research for his various paintings including HMS Victory.  Being a regular visitor to the ship at this time, he applied for and was granted special access to areas usually off limits to the public.  The photos below are a selection of the best photos taken.  All photos are copyright of Ivan Berryman, but he hopes displaying them here will be of use to other artists or model makers working on the Victory who are not lucky enough to be able to visit this historic ship in person.

Before a recent move to Scotland, Ivan Berryman lived and worked in Ryde, Isle of Wight.  As most of our visitors will know, this is just a short ferry ride from the oldest serving ship in the Royal Navy - HMS Victory - permanently preserved in dry dock at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.  The photos shown here were taken by Ivan in about 2001 to 2003 on various separate occasions.  The first shows the advantage of taking high resolution shots for such a research project.  Details of the multitude of rigging can be picked out from the photos very easily.

A triplet of images showing the detail available from the photos.

and finally.....

a memento of having been on HMS Victory for Ivan.
